Terms of Use
Last updated 5 August 2026
The one that matters: your passcode is the only key to your vault. We do not have it and cannot recover it. If you forget it, or lose your device without an exported backup, your content is gone permanently. Please make a backup.
1. Agreement
By downloading or using Vaultly ("the app") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Licence
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Vaultly on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not reverse engineer, resell, sublicense or redistribute the app.
3. Your content stays yours
You keep all rights to the photos, videos and files you add to Vaultly. We claim no licence over them and never receive them.
4. Data loss and backups
Vaultly stores your content encrypted on your device only. You are responsible for keeping backups. We are not liable for loss of content caused by:
- A forgotten passcode, passphrase or backup passphrase
- A lost, stolen, damaged or reset device
- Deleting the app, which removes its encrypted storage
- Using "Erase vault and reset", or deleting items and emptying Recently Deleted
- Enabling "Delete originals after import", which removes the copies in your Photos library
Use Back up vault in Settings to export an encrypted archive, and store it somewhere you control.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Vaultly to store or distribute content that is unlawful, or that you do not have the right to possess. Because the app is fully offline and encrypted, we have no ability to monitor, moderate or remove content — responsibility for what you store rests entirely with you.
6. Vaultly Pro subscriptions
- Vaultly is free to use for up to 40 items. Vaultly Pro removes that limit and unlocks break-in alerts, the decoy vault, disguised app icons and other Pro features.
- Subscriptions are billed through your Apple Account. Payment is taken at confirmation of purchase.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited if you purchase a subscription during the trial.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings after purchase.
- The Lifetime option is a one-time purchase and does not renew.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one through reportaproblem.apple.com.
7. Security
Vaultly uses AES-256-GCM for content and PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 to derive a key from your passcode. No security measure is absolute. We do not warrant that the app cannot be compromised by vulnerabilities in iOS, by physical access to an unlocked device, or by someone who knows your passcode.
Screenshots taken inside Vaultly are saved to your Photos library, outside the vault's encryption. The app warns you when it detects one.
8. Disclaimer
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
